Cystatin 4
WebCysC, an endogenous protease inhibitor with a molecular weight of 13 kDa, belongs to the cystatin superfamily and plays an important role in the intracellular catabolism of proteins and peptides. Most nucleated cells synthesize CysC, which is catabolized by renal proximal tubular cells after glomerular filtration. WebBackground: Cystatin C (Cys-C) is recognized as one of the most reliable renal function parameters in the general population, although it might be biased by thyroid status. Herein, we tested Cys-C and conventional renal parameters in a cohort of hypothyroid patients treated with Levothyroxine.
